SmoothieGirlGuestsToo

Despite the fact that I'm on hiatus from blogoinstafacetwit, I was happy deliver a couple of guest posts for fellow bloggie peeps who asked me to help out.

The first blogger is Gillian of HealthyTastyCheap. She has a solid & informative food blog that she writes with her cousin, Ayah. It's a post for "Smoothie Month" and provides some links to my favorite smoothies (see photo below).  Also included is a video that I made in January 2011, explaining why I feel that smoothies continue to be so beneficial for me in my weight loss journey.

Click here to see my guest post over at HealthyTastyCheap. Don't worry that my coloring makes it look like I'm going to barf. I blame the blue/green colors in the room. And that my hair has considered starting its own blog due to the fact that it has a mind of its own. The highlight of the video is that I fall into a warm embrace with one of the most fabulous bloggers on the planet.

Wha wha? My Kettle Corn smoothie of course!

The second guest post is very raw and honest.  The post called,  "What it's like to be 'heavy' " was provided to my good friend Eden, who is hosting a "Not my blog" extravaganza while she's out of town. There, people are writing posts that they wouldn't publish on their own blogs. Truth is that I absolutely would publish my post here, but I simply hadn't yet done so.

The following photo wasn't included, but I'm posting it here. As you can see, I'm not kidding when I say that I know what it was like to be 'heavy.'

Me, circa 1996

By the way, for something different to your usual blog reading, you should check out some of the other posts in the "Not my Blog" series as there are open and wildly entertaining discussions about sex, blogging pet peeves/observations and blog name spoofs, among other great topics ... entertaining, thought-provoking and/or funny...sometimes all at once!

Is this even legal?

Ellie and I were so happy to be on our way back to the mountains that we decided to have a celebratory smooch in the car (see photo above).  Once I leave this coffee house with free WiFi, my bursting bladder and I are going back into hiding

Q: Would you drink something odd-sounding like a kettle-corn smoothie? Would you kiss your cat on the lips?  Do you order 74 iced coffees in order to get "free" WiFi?

Amanda! Thank you! Loved your comments. Can't wait til our next meetup! And YES cats totally have lips! Hilarious lips! Sam's are pink. Ellie's are brown-black and Ace's are jet black. Almost like shopping for mascara.

Nooo!! Not back into hiding! How long before you are home? - we miss you. Well, at least learn not to poke your eyes out when you are using your Iphone ;)
I have been meaning to try the kettlecorn smoothie - you know my love affair with pocorn. But yes, I would totally try it! And YES, I have kissed my cat on the "lips" on numerous occasions. I miss him so much.
And I have never had iced coffee. This southern belle likes her tea iced and her coffee hot as fire.
I loved your post - and that is a great blog (thanks, you just fed my blog-hopping obsession) and with the word cheap in it, it is totally for me (ha). See, you need to do more video blogs - you and Eden can demonstrate how to make smoothies, or muffins. Or just show Miss Ellie Sunshine! And when Janetha comes in October for Eden's b-day, ya'll can really do something fun!!!
Well have fun in the mountains but come home soon. If you win the giveaway, you will have to be home to get your package. ;)

It is a great blog, sorry! They have whole sections of recipes: quinoa, lentils, oats, sweet potatoes... The list goes on!

Goodness, your giveaway was so generous! I just hope that me or one of the 35 Ellies win :-) thank you, Missy, for just being you <3

Kettle corn smoothie? I need to know more! Um yes, I totally kiss my cat on the lips even with his missing teeth and bad breath.

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) said...

Kristen- yeah why is it that cats Never have nice breath? At least dogs have fabulously intoxicating "puppy breath"!

Amanda- I just got your joke heee naughty!! :-)

Sorry I'm late to the party! Just catching up on your posts!

Oh, yes, the kettle corn smoothie. Thats got deb written all over it. I just need to somehow find a kettle corn ice cream!

Oh and speaking of coffee and bursting bladders....the coffee here is sooooo good, even I'm drinking it! I'm peeing every .5 milliseconds which in Antwerp isn't cheap because every public toilet has a "madam pee pee"that demands 40 euro cents, but still...I know realize why I'm no a big coffee drinker back home. It just doesn't compare.

PS, I'm thinking of being a "madam pee pee" now because I swear those women make so much money.

PSS sorry I turned my comment on your good-natured post about my exploding bladder and aspirations to clean toilets for a living.

PSSS (last one, and then I go back to hiding) I miss you, Derek, and the kitties.

I really need to catch up on my Google Reader...I am sure Eden's blog is full of eye-opening posts! Can't wait to get there.

I didn't recognize you in this photo! You look so different now Deb - so healthy. So happy. I'm glad. :)

Eden - I'm so jealous of the coffee! Drink a cup for me and I'll send you a few bucks to cover the loo!

Popcorn ice-cream? I saw this on a blog a few months ago and bookmarked it. It's not kettlecorn, but the caramel sauce puts it in the sweet category for sure. And I'm sure you'll laugh at the blog title!! Now just come up with a healthier version!

Missy- first off I have my weekly posts all prescheduled for as long as I want to be unplugged. It just means I'm selfishly putting my stuff out but not reading others (ie not playing by the "rules")... But it's what I need to do at the moment.

Also re that kettle corn ice cream- fascinating that he soaks the popcorn in the cream then tosses the popcorn (I'd prob make it healthy by mixing the cream for milk) thx for the link!

Eden- miss u Madame pee pee, but glad you are unplugging too. I'm starting a trend. Pretty soon no one will be reading any blogs or leaving comments and we will all be forced to go out and live! Crazy.

Ameena- I highly suggest you head over there- I spoofed your blog-hope you still love me :-)

Cats are so cute but Michelle and I are allergic to them :( but I would kiss my dog on the lips (well that is when I ever get one) haha

Julie said...

i would DIVE INTO something called a kettle corn smoothie. head first.

I tried your kettle corn smoothie a bit ago and it was probably one of the more interesting thing I have ever drank.

teabagginit said...

i used to go to football games JUST for the kettle corn! a smoothie made out of it would be far too dangerous! :)
ps - i go to coffee shops, get hot water for the tea bags i bring, AND use their free wifi. yup, i'm that girl! :)

oh i didn't realize your HTC post was up--that's what i get for unplugging myself! i am living on the edge and connected via expensive verizon tonight. i am home alone and bored =/ if you saw how much i let my dogs kiss me you would vomit. don't take the wrong way, like amanda said, hehe

Lindsay @ Lindsay's List said...

Deb - I meant to comment on your guest post for Eden, but alas, time got away from me. I honestly couldn't picture you being that heavy - such a dramatic change! Do you feel as though you changed as a person too when the weight came off?

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) said...

Lori- boo on allergies!

Julie- it's weird but I like it!

Teabag- oh no, $3 for hot water oh well what can you do?

Lindsay- thanks for coming over to comment- yes I must admit that I did/do feel different. Less self-conscious & embarrassed. More confident in some ways. Being smaller doesn't solve all of one's problems but it does make life a bit easier & more enjoyable (ex: I never liked hiking & biking & lifting weights before- that's for sure!) thanks again for popping over :-)

I am particularly interested in the second post (not that I don't want to read your hair's blog), so thank you for the head's up. I often miss guest posts from my favorite bloggers just because I sometimes don't read/know of the blog they are guest posting for.

It's funny, Lulu loves kisses but Pippa thinks such affection is much too undignified. I still can't believe Ellie likes to ride in the car. That cat is one of a kind!

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) said...

Lara- You're lucky my hair doesn't start a blog- it would be about anarchy and frizz (did you know I get my hair Japanese straightened with Ameena's guy? LOVE!) Also, Ellie loves car trips because I fawn over her for 2.5 hours constantly. And I only like kissing cats, not dogs nor humans :-)
