Wordless Wednesday: Pitter Patter of Little Feet

Ha!  I had you going for a minute, didn't I (Lara!)?!

Meet Samantha's new sister, Ellie.  It is short for älskling for all of you Swedes who are reading today. Translation:  Sweetheart or darling. (And yes, it rhymes.)

The kittens were to be euthanized the day our neighbor Kim saved them.  For months, Kim had been gently suggesting that Samantha must be so lonely without Charlotte "Oh and I have these adorable kittens here that need a home, ahem."  I already had seen the kittens and I knew that the-kitty-who-would-become-Ellie was more cuddly and human-friendly than the others in the litter, but we weren't ready to take her on.  I had just lost my Dad and we were about to set off on a trip.  It wasn't the right time.

Then we came back to find that all of the other kitties had been placed in homes.  She was the only one left without a home.  It was fate.  We went for it.

(Note:  so much for the Wordless part of Wordless Wednesday...oops, my bad)

Can you even stand it?  She's staring at Derek, asking "Will YOU be my Daddy?"  Melt.
So far there is harmony.  Soon we hope to be holding hands/paws and break into Cumbaya.  Then, we will do a rendition of Ebony and Ivory.  Oh, and for an encore,  we'll do 99-Bottles of Beer on The Wall:  we have a family road trip on Thursday:  eep, help?

Let's take a vote:   What is Samantha saying? 1) Welcome small friend!  2) Piss off, twerp.

If you want to see Samantha when she was a wee kitten (and me when I wasn't so little), click here for an old Flashback Friday.

Ellie:  12 weeks young

Get this: The sign was meant for Baby Eli (Not Ellie) ... a puppy;  and the girl working the front desk was named "Ellie!" Spooky!
Self Portrait at our first Vet visit at 12 weeks:  Clean bill of health after 10 weeks of every malady known to cats- YAY!
How I know she's really mine and not the Milk Lady's?  Out of 2000 square feet, she chose to nap here for the whole day. In the Sugarfree Syrup cabinet.  It's confirmed.  She's mine.

Momentous occasion:  First voluntary get-to-know-you sniff

She fell asleep on my arm until my arm fell asleep.

It's exhausting being me.

Q:  Do you have pets?  Cats, dogs, horses?  Derek & I have only ever had Samantha since she was 9 weeks old. (now 15 years young) and her Mom Charlotte.  Prior to that I only had dogs as a kid.  I never knew that cats were capable of being affectionate.  Honestly, who knew?

Yup, you had me going with that title. Haha. They're so cute! I don't have any pets but if I did I'd get a puppy. No offense to kittens, but I hear they grow up into cats and I'm so not a cat person. :)

I love your little kitty friend! I am a pet person. I have a cat and 2 dogs and a horse - my pupster is the light of my life (shhh don't tell the others I have a favorite) my hubs bought him for me after my mom passed away and I have to say he has helped so much in my healing and I hope that your kitty does that for you too!

Awww, cute little kitties!! :) All we ever had growing up were cats. I begged my mom for a dog and she refused!! So I "showed her" and Andrew already had our dog Cooper when I met him and then we adopted our sweetie pie dog Ripsey a few years ago. I still love cats though!! Andrew wouldn't ever let me have one though... maybe one day I can change his mind!! ;)

Eeeeee!!!! You know, after reading your Charlotte post, I wondered if you were going to get another cat! Ellie is darling. Funny how something as little as a kitten can breathe new life into you! And that Torani pic? Too. Cute.

I am missing my poodle back at home like crazy. At first, I would get weepy whenever I saw a dog on the street that looked like him. Now I just get weepy when I see dogs in general. I've been spending my lunch breaks looking at the puppies in the pet store next to my gym. I'm waiting until I'm in a real house to get a dog of my own, which is unfortunately still along ways off :(

What a cutie! Yes, you did have me! What else does "We have news..." typically mean?! ;)

Spooky about that sign...but kind of cool. It was meant to be! Welcome, Ellie! (I'll say it since I don't think Samantha is saying it...I understand the Big Sister Complex).

Carbz= yes, Charlotte was mummy.

Avery- I remember you used to have pets. A whole different lifetime eh?

Tracey- I totally get it- I 'hated' cats my whole life til I was in my 30s!

Always- nice to hear that your pup helped your healing :-) Yes, perhaps there is a little bit of that going on here.

Em- I know I've seen your pup as your icon. Cute. You'll have a whole new world ahead though :-D

Susan- I remember your adorable doggie posts- he is the CUTEST!!!!

Lara- thanks for welcoming her- you are right-= Sam wasn't rolling out the red carpet. But things are shockingly mellow here!

Allie- YES! Auntie Allie will be having major babysitting duties- in fact we are allllll picking you up at the airport so you will be in charge of making sure that no mayhem breaks out in the car!

Ellie is too, too cute!

We live with Tiny the Cat (who has his own Facebook page because we're obnoxious like that. And he has 32 friends). He's the friendliest kitty I've ever known. He talks a lot and runs to the door to greet all of our guests and requires a good long cuddle when I get home from work before he'll eat his dinner.

Most of our friends comment that he's more like a dog, but, really, I think they've just known the wrong kind of cats. I think cats are a reflection of their owners. Some of the rudest cats I've ever known have belonged to the rudest people. And vice versa.

Congrats on little Ellie! She is so adorable! No, I don't have any pets right now - 4 kids provide me with more than enough butts to clean up after;)

I think I love her...

Oh my god so cute! I had a cat when I was little but he could never be replaced so my future holds a tiny little dog for sure. I long for chihuahua and have no doubt that one day I shall make that dream come true! x x

Adorable Deb - I didn't know you had even adopted a new kitten. Oh gosh, so behind on your life! We must catch up soon. I really miss you!

Love that Ellie fell asleep in the sugar free syrup cabinet..definitely a cat after her mama's own heart! ;)
