Reminders about living...courtesy of kitten Ellie

Apologies in advance for people with an aversion to cats (you know who you are) or photos of cats that might make you squeal like a little girl. This post is nothing more than the shameless exploitation of our new bundle of joy. And a cheap imitation of those sickeningly cute calendars and books from the 90s. Enjoy. Or grab a barf bag. Your choice.

Get plenty of rest

Share food with others

Assess your surroundings

Laugh like you mean it.

Respect your elders

Practice proper hygiene

Go for your check-ups

Work Your Core

Make new friends

Embrace technology

Eat a High-fiber diet

Stretch

Make your voice heard

If you love something, hold it close

Reach out and touch someone

Read a good book...

...Or just eat a good book

Assess the damage (and have a martini if necessary)

If you did something wrong, try to pin it on your big sister

Be willing to play with others...

....But don't be offended if they don't want to play back.

Always be ready for your closeup

Q: What have you learned from your pets or kids?

Shut the Front Door she is so cute! You have to submit the core photo to LOLCats (aka the company that wanted to pay me $8.75 an hour).

PS. That post made me laugh and cry a little.

Hi Deb! Thanks for the comment on my blog. I totally feel like a cool kid now.

Our cat is Tiny Wood. I'll tell my husband to ok your friend request because you have an awesome blog and are Friend of Cats.

Tiny has taught us that if you yell loud and long enough, you will get delicious chicken to eat.

Awwww!! I don't even know what else to say (that's basically what I was saying throughout this entire post). I've been gone so long I didn't realize you'd gotten a new kitten! What an absolute cutie...makes me wish Minnie was mini again! :)

Things I've learned from MY slightly less adorable cat:

1. If you don't get your way, meow and whine. And then bite.

2. If no one pets you, rub up against their faces while they're sleeping and intermittently screech. And then bite.

3. Refuse to eat alone. Meow and whine until someone stands next to you while you eat. (I think this is also a Geneen Roth "rule")

4. Spend a lot of time grooming long hair. (and occasionally vomiting up said hair. But not alone, make sure to yack up hairballs in the company of others, especially while they're sleeping. See #2 and #3.)

Hi Deb, I wasn't sure how to email you directly, but I have a question on traveling with food. I'm leaving for a trip to France and Portugal next week, and I want to bring some snacks (oats and protein powder in baggies, bars, justin's pb packets). Is this kind of stuff ok to bring? Do I just have to declare everything when entering each country? Thanks!!!

Deb (Smoothie Girl Eats Too) said...

Hi Allison- what a fun trip you have planned. THe only things that need to be declared are liquids and gels- so if you want to be super anal (like me) you'll put your justin's butters into the same see-through quart sized zip lock bag that you have all of your lotions and potions in. You just take it out and put it through security separately (no explanation needed). Bon Voyage!

This was the cutest post!! I love Ellie...she and Sam are so cute! Makes me wish Minnie was still a little furball. I get the whole "eat a good book" thing - Minnie has chewed on quite a few of my paperbacks!
