This was surprisingly easy and sooooo flavorful...IF you like the unique flavor of guava. I realize that guava is an acquired taste, but if you like it- this shake is for you.
Personally I have no trouble with the seeds- they are VERY VERY hard, but small. I like a little crunch in my smoothies, but if you don't, then seed your guavas and use twice many.
Here are the ingredients & rough amounts:
Water ~a cup
Ice ~a cup
Xanthan Gum-very small sprinkle
Guar Gum- small sprinkle
A Guava (or two if you are seeding them)
Scoop vanilla protein powder
Few drops vanilla extract
Few sprinkles vanilla sugar-free, fat-free pudding
Oops, it looks like someone's tongue has already begun to clean the blade attachment. One day I'll give myself an inadvertent tongue-ectomy. But it'll be sooo worth it!
It looks icy as it's being poured, right? Fear not and have faith- it magically becomes creamy again due to the properties of the gums.
The finished product... smooth and creamy. Eat it with a spoon.
Some topping ideas: coconut, chopped pistachios, chunks of guava or other tropical fruit. I actually had some raspberries and pistachios on top and it was wonderful. You could eat it with a nut butter on your spoon- or better yet... COCONUT butter- mmmm that would be delish!
