(haven't I mentioned that cat hair is good for the digestion?) The Bangin' Bangkok: aka Drink your Pad ThaiDon't get all judgmental on me now! Don't knock it til you try it!
Ingredients:
- Water (~12 oz) , Handful Ice, Xanthan Gum (very small sprinkle) & Guar Gum (small sprinkle)
- Squirt of Sriracha Vietnamese hot sauce (or other hot sauce)
- T Peanut Butter
- Sprinkle Stevia
- Tsp Sesame Oil
- Scoop of Protein Powder
- 1/2 tub lite firm Tofu (or any kind of tofu)
- Chopped peanuts to sprinkle on top
Sorry, no photo of the finished product as it was consumed from an ugly plastic container on the way out of Gold's Gym. Truth be known, I was a tad nervous about this one...I thought it would be kinda gross, especially as my post-workout drink in the morning but it was
really yummy, honest. The sriracha doesn't have a "flavor" in this shake, it just adds a kick. The blend of the nutty (PB), toasty (sesame) and sweet (stevia) really melded well together and consequently, I loved it. You don't need the spice if it's not your thang. I dare you to make it. Make that a double dog dare!
Happy weekend to you SGETies!

I have been outfunked. Can't wait to try this.
Wow Deb, this is an adventuous shake! More adventure than I have in me :) Enjoy one for me, I am fruity or nutty when it comes to shakes.
THIS is crafty! i am not gonna lie, i got a little nervous when i saw the cock sauce in the recipe. but you are the smoothie queen and know what you are doing so i am sure it is good!!
Well, as I said, I myself was nervous- especially sucking it down after the GYM! But it was tasty. Obv. not for the faint of heart- and only those willing to really step outside the box and go to the realm of the slightly odd. Honestly, it was tasty. :-)
Wow, very creative Deb! I'm impressed. I would totally try it without the tofu. Maybe it would work with chia seeds soaked in almond milk instead?
I just made a variation of this without the tofu - HOLY TASTY SHAKE, BATMAN! Can I post about my results Twister?
Wow Deb, this is certainly interesting! I love the hot sauce in stir fry so why not a smoothie?
I made this! And I have to say that I learned a lesson about preconceived notions and keeping an open mind. In a typical senior moment, I used chocolate PB2 instead of regular (and didn't even notice till an hour later), and it still rocked. While it won't help me get my sweet jones on, it's a great detour from my usual smoothies. Where on earth did you come up with the idea for this?
HEAB- you bet chia would be a good addition. I really didn't taste the tofu.
Allie- of course you can! I'm so honored!
TDH- yay that you did it and it was good despite the chocolate addition!
Gosh, the inspiration was looking at the pantry and coming up with something to go with the tofu that was expiring next week :-D Thanks for giving it a go!
I made this yet again! This time with tahini instead of sesame oil - still delish!
Allie- YUMMMMMM!! You are so clever in the kitch- I simply can't keep up (but I can copy copy copy! ;-) )
