Three best pieces of advice given to me:
1) Get into a daily routine of some exercise, whatever it is. My Mother told me this back in the day when I was young and careless. I have applied it since her passing and I am grateful to her for it every day. I just wish I'd done it sooner.
2) When problems or projects or work or life is overwhelming, like, say "weight loss "-- stop, smell the roses, don't take on everything at once. Approach the solution one step at a time, and before you know it, you're seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Sounds simple and simplistic but it works every time in all aspects of life. I've found it to be the best advice I ever received.
3) On "dieting": If you have to, go on a strict diet to jump-start your weight-loss, but give yourself a certain goal, e.g. only two weeks on that diet or 8 to10 pound loss on that diet. Then proceed with a life-style of eating in moderation and continue that for a lifetime. It really works. (If you have health issues with foods, you work around them and adjust). I've received this advice from many people but never believed it until I finally took the plunge and did it myself.
Finally: Make someone smile. You'll find it really lifts your spirits, and suddenly you'll be smiling too. Corny but true.
MY NON-RECIPE:
If you're not a fan of zucchini, do not try this at home. However, if you do try, you just may become one. it's my go to veg.
*Pre- heat oven to 350.
*Zucchini (3 or 4 or as many as you need, you can do just one) Cut in half lengthwise.
*salt and pepper ( salt is optional)
*dried herb poultry seasoning, enough to cover the zucchini
*grated Parmesan cheese, enough to cover zucchini
*Place "boats" on baking pan or sheet.
*Spray with olive oil or butter spray. (or leave this part out)
*Sprinkle salt and pepper and herbs,
*Bake for 15 min. Remove and
*Cover with parmesan cheese.
*Bake another 10 min.
*Serve. A total no-brainer and oh so good.
