A little Food Porn for your drooling pleasure

No time for a "real" post today- but I made some home-made energy bars for a couple of girlfriends having birthdays... Everything just dumped into the food processor, whizzed around then pressed onto a non-stick, flexible, expensive rolly thingy- I think it's from France. Love it! Then I stuck it in the oven on ~275. You could easily eat them raw, if you keep them in the fridge.

SPRINKLES ENERGY BARS
: these were yummy

Sprinkle energy bars:

  • Ripe nanner or two
  • Several hunks of any nut butter
  • Several handfuls oats or rye or any other rolled grain
  • Dried nanner/strawberry mix (find it in the Toddler aisle- not kidding)
  • Sprinkles OF COURSE
  • Squirts of agave syrup

Sorry, I didn't measure- can't you tell!?
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Chia Oat Energy bars- these tasted like cardboard (next time add nuts or a nut butter!!!)
Oops, looks like a corner went missing!!!
Cardboard-Chia-Oat Energy Bars:
  • Few T. Chia, soaked in water
  • Several Handfuls Oats and Rye
  • Two ripe nannerz
  • A date
  • Brown Sugah
  • Next time ADD Nuts or Nut Butters- needs some fat!
Ok I have a toddler and I don't know what the dried strawberry/nanner mix found in the toddler aisle of the grocery store is...do tell? As in freeze-dried strawberry banana pieces? Or more like dried fruit pieces? Probably not integral to the recipe but seeing these kinds of things is always good to get the creative easy snack bar juices flowing. The sprinkles give a nice pop! of color. Thx for posting.
Yes, freeze dried. They are selling all the fancy-schmancy ones at Trader Joes and Whole foods, but they are also in the toddler snack aisle of regular supermarkets, along with a bunch of other flavors. Not integral to the recipe AT ALL!
What a great snack bar! I am going to try these. Similar to the cookies I made last night, but I did not process them. Love the sprinkles! :)
I really don't want to go to the truble of making these but I may have to. They look so fabulous. And it's probably not that much trouble at all.
MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
